Vote for FPCCT

Carter Mario Law Firm is holding their annual “Cartercares” Charity Contest and Family Promise of Central CT has been nominated to win a generous cash donation!

At Carter Mario Law Firm, they have been fighting for Connecticut injury victims for 30 years. But their commitment to the community doesn’t stop in the courtroom. Their CarterCares program is a statewide community outreach initiative through which their attorneys and staff can reach out and make a difference in the lives of their neighbors.

In honor of their 31st anniversary this year, Carter Mario is hosting a CarterCares contest to provide one worthy 501(c)(3) organization with a $5,000 donation and Family Promise of Central Connecticut needs your vote!

Getting to know Nina Rodriguez

A Community Spirit

On the second day of our Social Distancing Challenge Week #1, we would like to take the opportunity to thank our Program Coordinator, Marlaina “Nina” Rodriguez.

Nina was originally hired as our part time case manager but has become much more.  She currently manages our social media platforms, posts financial transactions and trains and manages our Volunteer Coordinator program…as well as everything in between.  Nina has stepped up her commitment to our families during the pandemic. She has created some wonderful videos to reach out to our volunteers and has done tremendous work for our Coronavirus Emergency Relief Fundraiser all while she continues to maintain “operations as usual” at the Day Center!

On a personal note Nina has a huge passion to help the community through advocacy with many social justice issues.  Nina loves to travel and has been to all 50 states!  Have you ever seen a smirk like the one on young Nina?

Please send her some good thoughts and wishes as she continues her valuable work for us and/or donate to Family Promise in support of Nina’s service to our guest families.

Getting to know Sara Schmidt

Our unsung hero
On the first day of our Social Distancing Challenge Week #1, we would like to take the opportunity to thank our Executive Director, Sara Schmidt.

Since coming on-board in November, Sara has advocated tirelessly for our guest families by partnering with the children’s school counselors at the schools, accompanying them to appointments and hospital visits, and securing them the care they need to be successful (sometimes even in the middle of the night). The pandemic has not changed Sara’s dedication to her responsibilities. As an essential worker Sara shows up every day to do everything she can to help our guests stay safe and healthy.

On a personal note Sara likes to hike, read and do crafts. She enjoys chocolate milkshakes and is an expert cotton candy spinner! (And yes, that’s a slightly younger Sara on the left!)

Please send her some good thoughts and wishes as she continues her valuable work for us, and consider donating to Family Promise in recognition of her efforts.
